Foundational to our approach is a synthesis of decades of research into how people think and process information, how they behave when alone and in groups, and how they’re persuaded and make decisions. Combined with years of practical experience, we know what works, and apply that knowledge to every project.

CREATIVE PROBLEM-SOLVING

Far too often, people fail to clearly identify the problem they’re trying to solve, getting distracted by symptoms or jumping right to solutions. We stay laser-focused on drilling down to the core issue that needs to be addressed. We then springboard into a solutions-oriented process that embraces out-of-the-box thinking while remaining grounded in the realities of the situation.

AUDIENCE & VALUES

The disappointing reality is that when you aim for everyone, you end up reaching no one. We help identify and target specific audience segments, basing our strategies and recommendations on what matters to them. By tailoring discrete approaches based on audience perspectives and motivation, we make sure your messaging is relevant and, more importantly, effective.

KEY MESSAGES

We work with leaders and program staff to create key values-based messages that reinforce a central theme. Those messages are then shaped to meet the specific needs and strengths of each channel while ensuring consistency in communication no matter the medium. We also provide trainings to support communicators in carrying these messages.

THE 80/20 RULE

This rule states that it takes 20% of the time to complete 80% of an activity, and 80% of the time to complete the final 20%. The key is in determining which activities are worth taking the time on, and which are black holes. By working with you to answer this question strategically to focus on what really matters, we ensure your project is delivering exactly what you need and nothing you don’t.

Wynn Hausser is a professional communicator and change agent driven by a sense of personal responsibility to help “Repair the World.” A lifelong student of human communication and behavior with degrees from Stanford and Northwestern Universities, Wynn has spent more than three decades serving nonprofit organizations in their quest to raise awareness, visibility and funds; launch initiatives and move through transitions; and help change systems, policies and people’s behavior. 

 

Wynn’s career includes 10 years as a documentary and educational filmmaker, 15 years in higher education communication, and close to a decade as the lead communication professional for other nonprofit organizations. He has extensive experience translating technical, legal, medical and policy details into lay language, spearheaded numerous web-based initiatives and served as a private consultant for a family foundation and arts organization. 

 

Wynn is now sharing his knowledge, experience and wisdom as a consultant, writer and speaker. He has two grown sons and lives in Santa Cruz, California.
